Chinese food in South Korea

I have travelled to many countries and always liked the Chinese food and Indian food. Though basic Indian food is generally the same and authentic, but I have also found out that Chinese food is absolutely different in different countries. The Chinese food I ate in Germany was not available in USA or the Chinese food I ate in Hong Kong, Japan or South Korea was different. Even I travelled to China there were 100's of dishes in each restuarant, which were different from the chinese food served in Europe or anywhere. Even South Korea and China are very near but the chinese food is different. Its surprising! In Korea the Chinese food comprimises of : 1. Black soya noodles, jjajangmyeon; 자장면; 짜장면, are made up of pork and sea food. Its very popular in South Korea.It consists of wheat noodles topped with a thick sauce made of chunjang (a salty black soybean paste), diced meat and vegetables, and sometimes also seafood. Jajang (alternately spelled jjajang), Initially I was little hestitant in eating it but once I ate it I just loved it from that time.

2. Chang-pong is the spicy sea-food noodles which are made by special red color sause.Champong is a popular noodle dish that is prepared in a red, spicy seafood broth containing hearty vegetables and variety of seafood. This dish presumably has its origins in Japan with influence from China and is known to be very popular at various restaurant.

3. Bokumpbap which is the fried rice with different combinations. My favourite is prawn Bokumbap.

4. Thang-suyu i.e is the fried pork which is served with sweet and sour sause. The sause is specially prepered by fruits like pineapple. These are the main dishes in the Chinese restaurant also. There serve seven course meals for the party which inlcudes fried pork, fried chicken, fried shrimps, whale soup etc.

So I recommend to try the Chinese food in South Korea.

Korean Barbecue, Samgyeopsal, grilled pork belly, South Korea

In my last post I already introduced the  Korean barbecue, here I discuss the Samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly). Its the most popular Korean cuisine. As I told you in Korea BBQ style food or the grilled foos is really popular. The electric grilled are placed on each table in the restaurants. The grilling is usually done with charcoal which makes it super delicious.

The samgyeopsaal is generally eaten in parties and with a group of people, enjoy it with soju and beer. Soju is a kind of Korean alcohol.

The pork belly is cut in large sizes of thick strips, grilled which gets soften and almost melts in your mouth. 

The grilled meat is generally eaten with lot of salad in Korea. 

 

 

The grilled meat is rolled in a leaf with kimchi, grilled garlic or you choose your wraps and enjoy it. 

After finishing the grilled pork, generally the meal is ordered some soup with rice or cold noodles.

Norebang or Singing rooms in South Korea

Norebang (노래방)or the Karaoke or the singing rooms in South Korea is one of the prime source of entertainment. You can see the norebang in most of the streets in Korea. There are several rooms inside the norebang where a group can occupy one room. Each room is equipped with Karoke list of book, sound system, audio, video and dancing lights.

They serve beer, or any drinks with the snacks. The average price of Norebang is 15,000 won. The Karaoke book list includes Korean songs, Japanese songs and English songs. I had the chance to visit the norebang a couple of times with my Korean friends. Some are really good singers. Generally, Koreans are very quiet but in norebang you can see the hidden talent of many as they emerge as pop-stars. There are wide screen in the room where the songs are displayed with Karaoke text. The Karaoke system has a special feature which helps in ranking the best singer. One can easily rate their capabilities. Its a fun place to be in.

In Korea the best opportunity to work is to be an English Teacher. There is a tremendous requirement for English teachers at nick and corner of this country. English teacher job is the most in demand. The Korean Education system does not have a good curriculam for teaching English. Previously and now also some schools have considered English as secondary language and didnt focus on it. Hence Korean citizen suffered from global recognition and also at many platforms in their life. But now Korea is surely on their changing phase where we find Korean Govt. has made a big effort in propogating English Language through all kinds of modes like TV, Radio, Schools, Universities etc. Its diffciult to mention but almost every corner they have spread the informatio to to Learn English.
